Painted Piggies

I’ve been neglectful.

I’m uber-low maintenance about many things, but once it’s flip-flop season, I typically do a good job of keeping paint on my toenails.

This year I’ve been slow to start… much to the dismay of anyone who has had to see my bland, boring toes.

The lovely Julie at Peanut Gallery…Exit Here made last week’s Mom N Me Monday be all about hers and her daughter’s toes.

She had tons of cute feet shots, and not only were hers painted, but her daughter’s were, too.

Honestly, this made me feel like a total slacker.

I hadn’t gotten my act together to paint my own toes, and now I had to consider that I was doing a disservice to both of my daughters as well.

Shame, shame on me.

I started a thread in my Blog Frog community about painted piggies to gauge my level of slackerness.

Turns out, many of you women keep up with your nail painting duties AND some of you even get regular manis and pedis.

It was with a heavy heart that I decided to  make a change.

I painted 30 toes Thursday night, and it wasn’t so bad, really.  And it went more quickly than I would have guessed.

Kate was up first.

You can see Maddie’s foot sticking out on the right.  She waited patiently for her sister to finish…and then plopped down in my lap.

pedicure, toddler, nail polish

I’m pretty surprised at how still Maddie was, to be quite honest.  And she even sat for a while after I finished, which let them dry nicely.

I tried to get all 6 feet in one shot, but this was as close as I got.

Five out of 6 ain’t bad.

My photos aren’t all cute like Julie’s, but I’ll take what I can get.

And don’t look too close.  I didn’t clean up my toes after throwing down the polish.

Always the mom who takes care of her babies needs before her own.  :)

LOL haven’t done any painting in ages. My lovely colors are probably dried up by now. I’ll have to check.

Well done!! I am desperate for a pedicure but my friend who does it is off on maternity. When my bathroom is functional I will follow in your toe steps.

We did this yesterday, too, so if you see a copycat post in a few days, just know that our brains are in sync and I’m not stealing your ideas, k? ;)

Love all of the painted piggies in one pic. 5/6 isn’t bad at all!

I’ve thought about painting Presley’s toes but wasn’t sure if she’d sit still for it. Maybe I’ll get brave and try it. Cute!

Super cute toes! Wish I had some girlie toes to paint. The hubs disapproves of me painting the boys…he doesn’t know about the pink tutus I secretly dress up the baby in!

    Lots of yummy love,

I recently saw a mom who had painted her 9 month old daughters toes which made me feel awful. I don’t want to paint Wild Thing’s toes but I haven’t even been doing my own. And she’s primping a 9 month old! Where are people getting the time?

I only just painted my own toes yesterday. Gunne is obsessed with touching the bright red nails now.

Cute shot with the little foot on yours!

So it’s not like oxygen on the airplane, attend to your own toes before attending to your children’s toes?

I’m gonna paint my son’s toenails while he’s asleep. It’s the only way it’s going to get done….

I just took a picture of my feet a couple days ago, but I haven’t had the opportunity to blog about it. Suffice it to say, you are far from being the biggest slacker on this count. I’ve been gardening in flip-flops, so you can imagine what my feet look like!

That last picture is adorable! I’m terrible at keeping my toes painted but I should do it more as I like the look once they’re done. I’ll have to get used to it anyway for when Piglet’s a bit older!

Oh Liz I LOVE painted baby toes, but I think my husband would kill me if I painted Drake’s :)

I’m in need of a pedi, in fact thanks to your post I think I will schedule one…so thanks!

I love your photos!! I use to get regular pedicures all the time and sometimes manicures but really manicures on a mom dont last and tend to be a huge waste. But my daughter and I love to have our toes painted. I keep up with it in the summer months!

These are cute! Don’t worry, I don’t usually paint my girls’ toes. They wiggle too much and don’t stay still long enough to let them dry. When I am successful with them though, it is cute. I do love baby toes!

I have been very neglectful of my own lately too. My toes look terrible. A pedi is definitely in my immediate future.

Way to go Liz….I had just painted mine and Summer’s before those pictures. It’s what made me think of it! I let my toenails “breath” during the winter months. Otherwise I feel like they suffocate under the polish. Yes, I’m weird. But I do love me some painted toe nails.

And…that last pic is so cute. Although, I might add…I thought maybe you let your daughter paint yours…I was thinkin’ “what a good sport she is”…then you went and told me you did it!! That’s what I love about you!! Please don’t be offended…this is all said in a giggly kind of “you crack me up” way!!

5 out of 6 feet in one picture is not bad at all! We have yet to hit sandal season, but we will have our round of pedi’s too. My son loves to have his toes painted too and I usually oblige in the winter, but in the summer we’ll have to do it when he’s napping :)

    Hi Liz! I’m baaack!

I live in Florida, so we HAVE to keep up on our tootsies at all times. I think we have about 2 weeks where our feet are covered up.

And I love those pics of all those baby feet. Oooh! I miss that! And the toe ring is kick-ass, girl. Love it.

Timely post – I just did my toes so I could wear sexy sandals when Himself and I went out to dinner.

But then I spent this morning in an emergency room. And bet NO ONE appreciated my toes.

    Darn preoccupied health care people.

I love my mani and pedis! I used to get them once a week (a splurge) but since I moved (5 years ago) I have slacked..mainly because it is at least 2 x the price and I am cheapo! My little one sits perfectly still while I paint here toes…the only time!

Man, I wish I had the guts to post pictures of my feet on my blog. I have the ugliest man feet ever. However, I just went and got em’ did… and they’re looking super now.

My toes need paint or they’d be mistaken for men feet. No joke.

I have to admit, I paint my toes year round. I would love to have a pedicure but that’s just not in our budget….so I do at home pedicures. :) I bet they loved their painted piggies!

I always keep my toes polished, but would never go in and get a mani/pedi. Sarah asked for her toes to be painted last week and they are so gosh darn adorable, but not as adorbale when she cried at bathtime when it came off! THen I had to do it again :-)
