Prompt 1.) It was a bad burn. Tell about the worst sunburn you ever received. How did that happen!?!
As a kid, I had the perfect skin.
Summers were spent playing outside all day, and steadily gaining a lovely, golden tan.
<Enter puberty>
I don’t know exactly when my skin crossed the threshold into “pastey,” but I do know the transformation happened slowly over time.
I was fortunate enough to take a trip to Italy, Greece and Turkey when I was in high school. A few teachers from my school traveled abroad with a group students every summer, and 5 of my best girlfriends and I successfully sold our parents on how amazing and remarkable the trip would be.
We were gone for 2.5 weeks, with a land tour of a handful of Italian cities, and a cruise to the Greek Isles and Turkey.
I brought 2 bathing suits on the trip, and we spent a lot of our time at sea, sunning ourselves on the deck.
The result?
A Neopolitan Back.
Chocolate…
Strawberry…
and Vanilla.
I don’t know that it qualifies as the “worst” burn ever, but it’s definitely the most interesting.

Ugh…been there, done that. My lily white skin is no longer a fan of the sun…my tan lines from our trip to the river look very similar
…never mind the neapolitan look, what about that fabulous itty bitty teeny tiny prebaby teenage waist??????
hilarious…yes, a neopolitan back. That only happens once!
I don’t know whether to be impressed, horrified or just pass you some aloe.
What’s hysterical about this to me is that you actually have a picture. That’s too stinkin’ funny!
Wow! That really is interesting! It looks like it hurts too.
Now I want some ice cream.
Ah! That looks painful! But, on the bright side, Italy, Greece & Turkey are AMAZING. I love them all. How much fun was that trip?!
Thats some impressive tan lines!

Wow, that IS a neopolitan back! Holy cow!
‘Neopolitan back’ – hilarious! But I’m sure did not feel so hilarious. Ah, youth! I’m so done with sunburns.
Neapolitan ice cream. Now I want some. Is that weird, that your back made me want ice cream?
My favorite sunburn ever was when my friend ended up with hand prints all over her body. It was like she slathered her hands in sunscreen and then slapped her hands in a few spots without ever bothering to rub it in. We were in Mexico… there were margaritas all day long… Anything as taxing as rubbing in sunscreen was clearly not on the agenda.
