Daily Kate-isms: 10.4.10

It’s been some time since I’ve laid out a list of Kate ditties.  I hope at least one makes you smile!

————————

Upon seeing me in a black dress and heels, with my hair done and make-up on before a wedding:

“You look strange with that make-up, Mama, but your voice is real!”

————————-

Referring to Jillian Michaels in one of her 30 Day Shred workouts:

“Mommy, why does she always look so mad?”

————————-

After my mom complimented her on the shirt she was wearing:

“Thanks, Nana.  But I’ve had this shirt for YEARS!”

————————-

When we pointed out that Maddie deserves a turn, too:

“I don’t like that everything isn’t all about ME anymore!”

————————-

When Craig mentioned to her that she’ll grow up and get a job someday:

“Work?!? I don’t want to work!  I want to live here with you two!”

Our girls were destined to be friends.. We could replace Kate with Jolie & they sound like things I hear at this house daily.

I love her honesty! I actually spend a lot of time thinking that I don’t like that it’s not all about ME anymore, so I totally get her.

Tater always says he doesn’t want to go to school…he just wants to stay home with me. Lucky me, huh?!

    I adore Maddie’s “me” comment!

She’s bang on. Life isn’t any fun when it isn’t just about us anymore, and I want to still live with my mom and have someone else to the laundry. It just isn’t fair.

Kate sounds observant & assertive! Good for her! :> I need to be better at recording the comments we get around her from my two. I can’t count how many times they have made me do a double take! :>

Kate cracks me up and makes me wish Gunne would hurry up and get his vocaubulary going. I mean, “shoe” “mama” and “duck” don’t exactly lead to pithy sayings!

Okay, that was cracking me up. If nothing else, at least she’s an honest girl! Glad you wrote it down for her, so when she’s DYING to get out of the house you can remind her that she wanted to live with you forever and ever and ever…

Ok, that LAST one needs to be nipped in the bud.

In the BUD, do you hear me?

Yeah, it’s all cute now, but wait till she’s 18 and still has no idea that a life outside your home awaits.

    Uh huh…

Not speaking from experience or anything…

She is right, growing up is not all its cracked up to be. She should stay here and live with you.

Having their kids stay home and never leave… every parent’s dream.

They did put a smile on my face – especially the one that she had the shirt for YEARS. So precious to get a glimpse of their perspective on life!

I remember when I thought “years!” meant about 2. Then when my parents said “like 20 years ago…” I thought… “you practically have one foot in the grave!” Now, I’m the old fart.

Our 4 year old has told us that he is never getting a job or getting married because he wants to live with us forever. It’s both sweet and terrifying.

And tell Kate that I don’t like that it’s not all about ME anymore, either. Sharing is hard.

It’s not about me any more either Katie. Pull up a chair right next to me and I’ll have a cold one…a root beer…with ya. It’s downhill from here. LOL to be young again!

This kid is too smart. I love that she’s mastered the female art of “Oh, this old thing!” And really, why can’t the world revolve around us? Why can’t we live with free room and board with people who love us and buy us fabulous shirts that get compliments? But mainly, why can’t the world just revolve around us? Forever? Smart girl, Kate.

She is hilarious! She’s bound to be my son’s soul mate. Here I thought he was the only one that could come up with these awe-inspiring words of wisdom. “I can hear ice cream scooping from three miles away.” will always be my favorite of his.

Always a winner, the daily Kate-isms! These should really be a regular post, Liz, they’re just that good!

The, “had this shirt for years…” reminded me of a third grader that upon learning that I was a Bon Jovi fan said to me, “Mrs. Webb, I’ve been a fan for years too and think Slippery when Wet is some of the band’s best work!” Yes, this third grader was a little old man in a 9 year old’s body but it just cracks me up when little ones say something like that….Years, sheesh! I’ll show you years!
