Things Blogging Has Given Me

I consider 11 months ago, today, to be the official start of my public blogging career.

As I look back, it seems like it was such a long time ago, yet these past 11 months have truly flown by.

I’m extremely grateful to have discovered the fabulousness that is the blogosphere and Twitterverse, and for so many of the amazing, wonderful women (and a few men!) I’ve met along the way.

And because any good blogger loves a good list, here are some other gifts I’ve received during my 11 month long blogging career…

- the chance to ‘use my brain’ while busy with this mommy gig

- lots and lots of practice writing, which is something I do enjoy but haven’t done extensively since graduating from college

- knowledge that the proper pronunciation of “meme” is MEEM

- more familiarity with HTML than I ever imagined I’d want or need

- connections with women who now live states away from me, but who grew up in the same part of Chicago as I did

- connections with women who live in TN, a state I never imagined I’d call, “home”

- connections with women who live in NH, another state I never imagined I’d call, “home” (and really kinda wish I still couldn’t)

- tremendous support during crises, like when our vet found suspicious lumps in our dog or when I debated if I should finish off the entire box of mac & cheese by myself

- tweet responses from ProBlogger, both when I told him my husband gave me one of his books as a Valentine’s gift and after I called him and his bald, bespectacled-ness, “cute in a very endearing sort of way

- the camaraderie of other women who understand the angst of having a husband named Craig who is a cake-decorating, Paleo-Diet-eating, adventure-racing metrosexual

- a tribe of fantastic, intelligent, caring women whom I’m honored to call my real friends

These past 11 months have been an amazing journey, and I’m grateful for every last second of it.

{Welcome to all the SITS girls!  Thanks for stopping by today!}

    Thank you for this list. Up until about five seconds ago I was pronouncing “meme” as, well, “me me.” :p

    I don’t remember exactly how or when I found you, but I remember being so excited when I did. You started “public” blogging a month later than me and look how far you’ve come! You rock!! Congrats on your SITS day, you deserve it girl!
