As you know, yesterday was my birthday. I got an overwhelming number of tweets and Facebook messages wishing me a happy day; I have the greatest friends!
But the coolest, #ALLCAPSAWESOME and totally-from-out-of-nowhere birthday “gift” was the call from America’s Funniest Videos that the video we submitted last summer, is going to air Sunday, March 13th!
Yep, you read that right! MY GIRLS ARE GOING TO BE ON TV!!!
And the cherry on top?
I have the blogosphere to thank for it!
See, last summer I posted a video on this blog and it received over 60 comments. You guys thought the video was so funny, and Kristin from Ellie-Town put the idea in my head to submit it to America’s Funniest Videos.
So Kristin, total credit for this experience is given to you!
The video is no longer on the blog, however; once it airs on TV, it becomes property of AFV. And I have NO idea how they might edit the clip, so I’m a bit hesitant to see what it is they actually broadcast. The entire video is 1 minute 15 seconds, so it’s going to be greatly cut down. I’m hoping that the gist of the video remains the same.
The basics of the video are these: the video is shot by Kate, and taken with her VTech Kidizoom digital camera. Maddie is the only one who is seen in the clip, though you can hear Kate’s and Craig’s voices. I liken what happens to those blooper reels you see where a TV reporter on a city street has an interview that goes severely awry.
August 20, 2010 was when we first received notification that the video would be aired. Then through rounds of paperwork, various levels of clearance, AFV getting the legal OK from Vtech, and a phone interview to provide writers enough information to write a script for host Tom Bergeron, we finally have an air date!
So, I’d love you forever if you tune in to ABC this Sunday, March 13th for America’s Funniest Videos! For us here in the Central Time zone, it airs at 6 pm. Be sure to check your local listings!
Now I’m crossing my fingers their edits keep it as funny as it actually was.

I saw your kids on TV last night! It’s funny ’cause I never watch AFV, but I was watching at my dad’s house and it felt like deja vu when I saw the video. I knew I had seen it here before! So awesome! And it seems like they didn’t edit it too much either. Fun!
