Hunters take their places.
A timid first-timer…or so we thought.
Turns out, she had the best plan of attack of all – sit down in 1 spot and fill the bucket while everyone else runs amok!
Surveying the goods.
After the thrill of the hunt, it was time for some fuzzy lovin’ at the petting zoo.
This duck nearly pooped on Maddie.
Speaking of poop, there was also some of this kind…

I would have freaked out if I almost got pooped on by a duck. Looks like a fun day. Pony rides are always a good time for kids.
Maddie recoiled. It was funny.
How cute are those sunglasses?! Looks like the egg hunt was a huge success!
We have more sunglasses than you could shake a stick at!
Those sunglasses? So cool. Baby ducks pooping? Not so much. Looks like much fun was had!
JDaniel saw the goats pooping at the petting zoo and refused to touch them. I don’t know why. I hug on a little boy who poops all the time.
An egg hunt and a petting farm? My kids would love that and they would totally not be bothered by the poop.
Did she like the pony ride? She looked both excited a and a bit scared!
Cute pictures!
I love her strategy! Smart kid!
I know! I was floored when I realized what she was doing and how it was 10 times more effective than all the rest of the kids. Especially since she was running with the preschoolers!
I love the happiness written on their wee faces, Easter is so fun!
Miniature ponies and baby chicks??
I’ll bet you had some happy children.
The poop is just part of the Easter experience.
Ha! The requisite Easter poop.
Nice.
They are adorable…looks like a great day and such a fun egg hunt!
Wow! a petting zoo? that’s a great Easter addition.
Also, strategy-wise, it seems that the bucket would have been a good scoop, especially since the eggs are more strewn rather than hidden. I bet trawling with the bucket would have worked well.
I bet you were an evil genius toddler, Bill.
PONIES!!!!!
Adorable photos and >>>PONIES!!
I always love how excited Kate looks.
Oh my word – how sweet! xo
she’s SMART just like her momma!!!!
love the pictures, it looks like you had a very nice Easter weekend
Not to be the cynical one here, but I say Easter’s as good a time as any to learn a valuable lesson: the world is full of horse poop. The key, is to find your joy in spite of the poo, and it looks like Kate and Maddie did just that.
lol. You have one smart cookie there. Better watch out.
Nothing says Easter quite like poop in your hand.
Or is it Cadbury Creme Eggs?
Either way.
So glad yours was wonderful.
(and that you all washed your hands after. you did, right?)
I think I’d *almost* be more interested in eating poop than cadbury eggs.
What fun! I love coming to your blog to catch all the cuteness in action!
So, are you gonna get a Mac, too?
Easter egg hunts can be brutal! She had an excellent plan of attack. Animal poop…all animal poop…is gross- even if it comes from cute fuzzy ducks! I would have freaked the freak out!! She looks so tiny on that horse…but didn’t look to have an ounce of fear!
And that was just a pony! She didn’t hesitate at all, which is good.
What a fun day you had!! I LOVE the purple Keen’s!
Dude, we’re HUGE Keen fans!!
What is Easter without poop? Seriously? I thought that was just part of the day.
Why do I feel like I’m one step closer to Hell for saying that?
SNORT!
Very cute shots. So fun to have animals there too.
The pictures are adorable! We had an easter egg hunt in our apt. Not quite as fun as outside, but we had to make do! Happy Easter!
Fun!!!
WAY TOO CUTE!
We went to a “hunt” like this on Saturday morning too. I actually prefer to call it an “egg scramble” (yes, I do think I’m funny thank you…. ) That duckling is so cute, as are your girls!
Love the pictures. I’m jealous that you could all wear shorts for Easter.
There’s something about ducklings and chicks at those petting zoos that freaks me out just a little – or maybe it’s the fear of getting pooped on!
I want a pony ride! Now, now, now!
It ain’t Easter until an animal poops on you! Your girls are so adorable.
Oh, they are so darn cute. Truly beautiful girls, Liz!
And are those Keen’s that they’re wearing? I bought Matthew a pair, but have been thinking of getting Katie some too. Do your girls like them?
Yes, they are! We LOVE them! I recommend them to everyone. Kate had them last year, too, and they held up so great.
Now that’s a strategy! Good job Maddie
They’re both so cute.
What a fun day!
Looks like a perfect day!
Do we live in the same neigborhood? So funny we have have a peting zoo too! And this year a clown, which was strange. Adorable!
How fun! Looks similar to the egg hunt our daycare did. Without the birdies though!
When kids actually get big enough to hunt on their own for the first time it’s so much fun to watch. Looks like it was fun for all. You know, except for the almost poop incident.
Ooh, she is a smart little cookie. No need to chase after the eggs when you can just sit in one spot and collect the loot. Pure strategy right there.
I am a little jealous of the pony ride, though. I SO want to do that.
Lovely weather you have that side of the world.
Great fun this with the family – easter egg hunting
I don’t think you could actually call that an egg “hunt.” They don’t seem to be very well hidden! lol The girls are beautiful as always!
Serious cuteness. I love both a good hunt AND a good pony ride. I don’t love poop.
Looks So fun!!!!
She is a smart one! That’s a great strategy
They are so cute Liz and it looks like they had such a wonderful day!
There’s got to be a way we can harness this talent of Kate’s for good. Or for my benefit.
Totally cute video of Maddie on the horse. And I love the egg-hunt strategy… even if it does get the kids high on candy, right?
That looks like a fun egg hunt! I bet they were more excited about the animals than the eggs!
