It is the Sabbath Afterall

I completely admit to being a “bad” Catholic. I grew up attending church every Sunday.  Did the CCD thing. Was baptized, received communion and confirmed. But beyond baptizing the girls, the only “holy” they get in their lives is when they go to preschool.

In addition to attending chapel twice a month, Kate’s teacher does a fabulous job bringing religious education into the class room. They pray for their classmates who may be out sick, for the class butterflies (one had a broken wing) and before they eat their snacks.

A couple nights ago as we were sitting down for dinner, Kate announced that we should pray. I agreed and we all sat in front of our plates of food as Kate clasped her hands, bowed her head and closed her eyes.

God, please take care of my Daddy when he travels for work. We don’t want him to get lost. Amen.

I was so taken aback by her “form” and lack of hesitation in leading the 3 of us in prayer. But at the same time, my heart melted because her prayer was so touching yet so cute!

Gotta love that kid!

And speaking of kids…

Behold the #SeniorHottie button!

High school senior photos

I intended to create buttons for both A and B, but fell a couple credits shy of being able to buy both.  The “grab a badge” code can be found in my sidebar.

Linky opens Wednesday and stay open til end of day, Monday, May 30th.

I wonder who looks like they had been rated “Most Likely to Succeed”?

Her prayer is wonderful! We pray when we hear ambulances and fire trucks at our house.

I’m not religious, but I do send my kids to a Lutheran preschool. I love when they repeat the prayers they learn and make their own. It comes from a place of such innocence. Kate’s prayer for her dad is such a perfect example.
Though there was quite a bit of bible study/stories mixed in with regular preschool activities, they are so little they lose it fast. In fact our neighbors gave me an inscribed children’s bible for Maren as a baby gift and Sophie said (in front of them by the way) at age 6, “What’s a bible?”. It was a wee bit embarrassing.

I don’t take the boys to chuch yet..who needs that kind of drama yet??? LOL. But we are considering parochial school for them..I hope I have a story to tell like this one someday..religion ins’t a moral compass..or empathy. I always hope my children get that first!!!! Loved this!

And I can’t wait for our senior hottie pics….so much fun!

I’m a bad Presbyterian. ;) Hubby and I were just talking about it this morning. We agree that once SB is old enough for Sunday School, we will find a church closer to home (the one I belong to now is about 45 minutes away) and attend regularly.

I feel like once the girls are a bit older, can really pay more attention and absorb what they are hearing, we’ll start going.

I cracked up at “We don’t want him to get lost.” So cute!

(I should say the same prayer for my husband when he goes… well, pretty much anywhere.)

Out of the mouths of babes! I am Jewish and have a very Jewish home and life…but I do not take my kids to services unless it is the monthly family one. Even then, they do not behave! Very embarrassing, considering I work there!

Being grateful comes easy to children who have been taught it.
And it’s for the simplest things.
    Things we take for granted.

The only religion that my son gets is when I yell “Jesus H J Christ, my back locked again”
Yea, I rock at this parenting thing.

We’re black sheep Christians, but a child’s prayer is always sweet and heartwarming. Except for this one kid at a church I once attended who always asked to pray and just kept on prayin’…and prayin’…and then I had to ask for forgiveness for wishing he’d just SHUT UP.

So sweet and love the button, can’t wait to see all the pics. We should vote for a few “titles”… most likely to succeed, most likely to be a famous blogger, etc, etc. :)

That was such a sweet prayer! I try to go to mass once a week, mainly on Saturdays when it’s quieter and when everyone tolerates my children running up and down the aisles and jumping on pews playing peek-a-boo. Kinsley attends Catholic pre-k too and they’e always sending home religious activities for us to do as a family like this kid friendly (unbreakable) Rosary. That’s the perk to her being in a religious pre-k, we learn about our faith even when we skip out on mass.

this is so cute. we are bad about doing the whole church thing too, but Eddie prays at daycare and when we DO say the Lord’s Prayer with extended family? He shouts “ahhmmm” after we say amen. Cute.

I definitely didn’t get most likely to succeed.

Your daughter’s prayer is perfect. Truly perfect. I don’t think God would want any different.
The Bible says you can’t enter the Kingdom of heaven unless you have the heart of a child, and with a cute prayer like that I can totally see why. :-)

So cute! We say prayers with Harlan every night and read her her toddler bible. I really don’t think she fully understands it, but her bible is her favorite book as of yet.

How sweet is that prayer? I have to admit I’m totally lacking in my son’s spiritual education.
