Last week you’ll remember I wrote about an upcoming #CookingConnections virtual cooking class I was co-hosting. It was pretty cool to talk with other moms of young kids to hear how they incorporated their kids into preparing meals for the family, as well as different teaching opportunities that tie into cooking and baking.
Obviously, learning about the food ingredients you are using to prepare the meal, along with the introduction-to-fractions concept of parts to a whole (when using measuring cups) are 2 skills you can teach your kids when cooking together.
Other important concepts for kids to learn like proper hygiene (wash hands before working with food and how you need to be careful when working with raw eggs or meat) and time (“We can decorate the cupcakes until 1 episode of Kai Lan has passed“) were also suggested.
