I want to start by saying “thank you” – truly, THANK YOU – for this fantastic week! I have been blown away at the involvement and comments and general bloggy lovin’ that’s been floating around with the #SummerBlogSocial attendees!
Also, many #TankAndBootie kudos to the #ALLCAPSAWESOME Jessica who came up with this idea and asked me to join in.
Here a few last thoughts based on the prompts…
1. Six months from now with the blog?
- I plan to keep “going local” (posts on this topic to come over at Eli | Rose Social Media).
- I’ve finished categorizing my posts.
Speaking of categorizing….2. If I had a do-over, what would I change?
- As soon as I moved to WP, I would have made a point to go back and add categories and tags to my old posts, and categorize all new posts going forward. I’ve learned that, while often overlooked, these are very important pieces of the blog structure puzzle.
That’s all from me, folks! I will spend the rest of my day (and probably most of my weekend) reading through the rest of the link-ups!

I’ve really avoided going back and retagging and categorizing my old blog posts, but it’s something I eventually need to do. Ugh.
I have way too many categories as well! And I never know how to tag my posts. I also have no idea what tags do or are important for.
This #SummerBlogSocial has been so much fun! And I am hoping to read through all the posts in the next week or so
I haven’t put any “blog goals” together… but I’m starting to think that I should. At least to reel myself back in and ground myself once in a while ~ especially so I don’t get too out of control or “out there”.
If I did put together one of these posts, categorizing and tagging would be at the top of the list. But it just seems like so much work now.
I know! Isn’t the thought of going back and doing it super daunting?
Thanks to you and Jessica for hosting – it was a lot of fun and I’ve really enjoyed reading many of the posts – so much good sharing of information!
I need to work on the words I am selecting for the tags.
Thanks Liz and Jessica for hosting this, it’s been fun writing, thinking and reading everyone’s posts.
Tagging and categories – on my to do list this weekend!
Have a great weekend!
I know what you mean! My feed reader has been busting at the seams all week with all the awesome posts that have been written this week! I’m making my way through my reader and then im going to cross check against the links to make sure I don’t miss anyone. However long it takes, I want to read every post because there is some really good info in those entries!
This was an awesome idea, ladies, and even though I didn’t get to post as much as I would have liked (darn real life getting in the way), I still had so much fun!
This week has been great. It is unbelievable at how much everyone participated and it has given me new inspiration for my blogging goals!
YAY for inspiration!
Thanks for hosting, ladies!
I need to go back and categorize all my old stuff, too. Such a wonderful reminder, Liz. I dread doing it, but it might help a little bit.
Thanks again for hosting this, I’ve been learning so much!
Thanks for taking part, Erin!
Yes, thanks for hosting! It’s been fun to read the posts! And I’ve learned so much. I think I need to make blogging goals for myself. I’ll have to remember to categorize my posts if I make the switch.
Thanks again for all the great info!
So, how’s Twitter been treating ya?
Thank you so much for hosting this! This was such a great way to find new blogs and just find out new things about where everyone wants to go with their blogs and what they have learned. Thanks to Jessica too! You both rock! =)
I really need to go back and categorize all of my old stuff. I do it little by little but have never truly made the effort to do it all.
So glad that we did this together. It’s been so much fun and you are a phenomenal co-host!!
Thanks so much for hosting this. I really enjoyed reading everyone’s posts and got a lot of great tips. I also found a lot of new blogs to follow along the way. When’s the next one?
Thanks so much for the #summerblogsocial ! My blog was dying a slow death. I am now motivated thanks to the tips you’ve shared.
It has been fun! I wish I had more time, but I plan on continuing to go through the links as I can.
You guys have had an amazing turn out for the summer blog social! Congrats!
Wish I knew about this earlier. Well I did…but ya know new baby and all. But I will be going through and reading all the posts!
I’m currently going through old posts and reworking the categories and tags. Because of that, I want to rip my hair out!
I’m so glad you and Jessica did this! I had a lot of fun and learned so much!
Thank you and Jessica sooo much for this awesome week! I am so excited about the new things I have learned and plan to spend tons on time reading more of the blogs!
Love reading the tips over at Eli Rose. Keep them coming!
Loved reading some of these posts quietly, in a lurkful sort of way without much commenting or linking – but appreciated ‘em. (-:
Thanks for the suggestion about properly tagging posts. I am adding that to my to do list pronto quicko.
Thank you for hosting this! I had a blast meeting new bloggers and getting some fabulous ideas.
Oh yeah, the categories and tags. They are a work in progress on my blog. Every now and then I ‘create’ a new category or tag that I think matches better and change or delete some of the existing ones in the process and change the old posts as well. But I know I need to slim down much more. Sigh.
And a gain, thanks a lot for hosting #SummerBlogSocial with Jessica, it was a very interesting week and I’m glad I joined.
Great job Liz!
Thanks so much to you and Jessica for setting this all up and hosting. It was such a great idea!
It’s been a really great week, and I’m so grateful to both of you for pulling it together. I’ve not participated as much as I’d have liked, but I’ve read so many posts and found so many new bloggers to learn from.
Great stuff!
You girls did such a great job with this! I also wish I had started tagging posts early on, but it could be a rainy day project for the future. Actually, who am I kidding? At least it’s something I learned along the way though.
Hope you had a great weekend!!!
I once spent an insane amount of time redoing the tags on my posts. I just didn’t get what they were really about at first. Now I get it. So, I am crazy and went through it all. It took a very long time. I don’t know if I would even suggest messing with it!
I can’t wait to hear more about your plan to go local!
