Pick Your Social Media Poison

I’m a big believer that it’s OK to be a bad blogger.

We can’t do everything and we shouldn’t try.

We simply are not being effective if we attempt to “do it all”.

But I do think that if you are going to dive into the social bookmarking arena, you need to seriously consider using StumbleUpon as your tool of choice.

I’m over at Only Parent Chronicles today talking about why StumbleUpon really is a “must”.

    I’ve heard of it.
    I still don’t get it.

But I am confident your explanation will clear things up for me.

(Which means it will alert me to the fact that I don’t know what the hell I’m doing. I’m still intimidated by iPPP).

    Heading over now.
    Wish me luck…

Thanks–I will definitely check it out. I feel as though I’ve been trying to keep up with so many different new blog tools and it’s hard to know which ones are the most useful. I have already signed up with SU so it’s worth it to check it out, eh?

    Okay I did it!

    Yay me!

(Now I guess I actually have to keep doing stuff…but baby steps.)

And I hope I can figure out how to use my iPhone to take pictures, too.

Hmm… I don’t Stumble nearly often as I should. I’ll go read and see if I get a better idea of the point of it!

Oh man, I’m getting overwhelmed again….. Seriously, how do you do it?

    • liz

Don’t be overwhelmed! You already have Twitter and FB under control. This one is an easy one to add in.

I wrote 2 posts on how to get started and how to use it at Eli Rose, in case you want a better explanation.

      The Twitter is so key.

      A wise woman to join.

SU is for a very different purpose, but definitely worth it.

I’m afraid to get involved in yet another networking site, lol! I’m giving myself permission to be a slacker blogger, but I am curious about SU.

It’s really not a “social” site like how Twitter and Facebook are. It’s considered a “bookmarking” site more than anything.

I have just recently started getting more serious about Stumbleupon (as you know from my neverending questions) but love it and have been using it as a great tool to grow my blog.

I’ll have to check that out, because I signed up and found it rather pointless – I couldn’t find an easy way to get to stuff I was really interested in.

I think most bloggers use it as a way to drive traffic to their *own* sites vs finding new stuff to read. Lord knows we already have enough “stuff to read”. 🙂
