Life’s 7 Wonders: In My Eyes

in Life in General

The always-insightful and inspiring Mama Kat had some seriously enticing prompts this week. I opted for the first one:

List your life’s Seven Wonders. Describe the most amazing 7 things you’ve seen with your own two eyes.

In no particular order, the 7 Wonders of my World:

1. Putting my hand inside a cadaver.

2. Walking Ground Zero 2.5 months after the World Trade Centers fell.

3. My husband shaving his legs.

4. The Sistine Chapel.

5. Two women in my family – one on each side – reaching their 100th birthdays.

6. My husband donning lycra and spandex (He’s a cyclist. It’s standard-issue.).

7. Kristin‘s dance moves IRL. Her face says she’s as serious as a heartache while her shoulders make me think she’s got some octopus DNA.

And know, strangely, I feel like I know so much more about you from this post.

Klz November 17, 2011 at 7:07 am

Heh. Octopus DNA. That’s pretty good Jostes.

Although I can’t believe I got beat out by a friggin’ chapel. Dude.

Liz November 17, 2011 at 7:17 am

I said “in no particular order”. :-)

Galit Breen November 17, 2011 at 7:11 am

Hee! Love!

{And a cadaver?!}

Greta @gfunkified November 17, 2011 at 7:15 am

Those are amazing. Especially the last one.

Alexandra November 17, 2011 at 7:19 am

You’ve missed the 8th wonder of the world: one that humanity should not be subjected to: the way my armpits look squishing out of those stretch tank tops made for young uns.

No worries: I keep myself out of public viewing in those. Just use them in the winter, to keep warm.

Kmama November 17, 2011 at 7:24 am

I love your take on the prompt. The funny and the serious.

Alison@Mama Wants This November 17, 2011 at 7:42 am

Kristin has awesome dance moves.

The cadaver thing is so creepy.

Amanda Austin November 17, 2011 at 7:59 am

Shake whatcha mama gave ya!

I went to NYC 6 months after 9/11 and we saw the site….heart breaking for sure, can’t even imagine 2.5 months!

Evonne November 17, 2011 at 8:16 am

The Sistine Chapel is definitely amazing, but those dance moves give it a run for it’s money!

Julia November 17, 2011 at 8:29 am

I’m envious of the 100s! And loved the video! It was a dance off?! Bonus: I no longer feel self-conscious about the audio recording I put on my post this morning! :)

Amy November 17, 2011 at 8:39 am

Love the dance moves! Almost made me want to get out of this warm bed that I’m in right now while cuddling with my baby and start dancing…Almost. :)

Rach (DonutsMama) November 17, 2011 at 8:55 am

Ha! The one with your husband shaving his legs is hilarious!
I’ve seen the Sistine Chapel as well–it’s so surreal while you’re there that it seems like a dream afterwards.

Julie November 17, 2011 at 9:25 am

Shaved legs and spandex, huh? Got yourself a hottie there. :P

Stacey November 17, 2011 at 9:46 am

Your husband definitely is confident in his manliness! LOL Great list.

Laura November 17, 2011 at 10:14 am

A cadaver? I’m going to have to go read that one!

Ali November 17, 2011 at 10:42 am

Now if we just had some footage of your husband in spandex doing Kristen’s moves…THAT would be awesome. I’ll wait…

Crystal November 17, 2011 at 10:47 am

LOL!! FIRst of all…the dance moves…awesome!!! cadaver…eww!! Spandex and lycra…gonna need some proof :) And ground zero….I can’t imagine how life changing that was. My hubby went a couple years ago when he was TDY with the army in Maryland. He said there really are no words. I would love to someday take my kids…so they can understand a little better why daddy has had to fight in 2 wars.

Dana K November 17, 2011 at 12:38 pm

I’ll put myself using a neti pot on YouTube but I won’t dance. This is awesome.

Jen November 17, 2011 at 12:51 pm

Awesome list!

Katie November 17, 2011 at 12:54 pm

those dance moves are AWESOME.
I feel like I now have to go back and add it to my seven wonders!

Elaine November 17, 2011 at 12:54 pm

I’m still so sad I missed those dance movies. Seriously.

Jen {at} take2mommy November 17, 2011 at 12:54 pm

I have to say that the first thing on your list freaks me the heck out. But the last one I love. You both got serious moves!

Lady Estrogen November 17, 2011 at 12:57 pm

LOL. Fun list – how can it not be when it includes spandex and cadavers :)
Grrrrreat dancin – whoa!

Charlotte November 17, 2011 at 1:03 pm

What was that about a cadaver??

Also, I could watch the clip of you girls dancing over and over. Just puts a huge smile on my face :)

Leighann November 17, 2011 at 1:42 pm

Why was your hand in there?

Barbara November 17, 2011 at 1:44 pm

Wow, a cadaver? That is crazy!

Angie @ The Little Mumma November 17, 2011 at 3:56 pm

Ha! Definite octopus DNA.

Your husband? Sounds like a catch.

Elena November 17, 2011 at 7:13 pm

I wish that Kristin would be there this year to see you two repeat this. Wow – 2 people in your family reaching 100 – that’s pretty awesome!

Jayme (The Random Blogette) November 17, 2011 at 7:49 pm

I want to dance with both of you! Kristin- I dance like that too and my face is always serious. One of these days I will have Dave record me dancing to Just Dance.

Liz- you have lived quite a life already!!

jackie November 17, 2011 at 8:37 pm

The Sistine Chapel is on my list of 7 wonders! It’s beautiful!

Omg, and Kristin does look so serious dancing! Haha!

Kimberly November 17, 2011 at 11:52 pm

This makes me super excited for Blissdom, though I really wish Kristin would be there too.

I don’t live far from NYC and I was up there shortly after the attack as well. It was completely heart breaking.

John November 18, 2011 at 8:35 am

My wife still giggles every time I put on my bib shorts – spandex shorts that have two straps that go over my shoulders like suspenders.

You can only imagine just how sexy they are . . . I mean, they take Duffy past “being turned on” to “laughing uncontrollably.” They’re that effective.

Paula@Simply Sandwich November 20, 2011 at 9:55 pm

Loved the video! Are those puppy slippers you have on?? Hard to tell while your dancing feet were moving! :D

liz November 22, 2011 at 7:12 pm

Ha! Yes, they are! I love that you noticed that! They were kinda tricky to dance in, though.
