How apropos that an #iPPP post includes an image from an iPhone autocorrect “incident”?

iphone-autocorrect

This happened a few weeks ago, and every time I read Craig’s line – “Honks I found it” – I still totally crack up.

On a different note, I wrote a letter to an over-the-top braggy mom which is part of Tonya’s Letters For You series today.

This post is part of #iPPP (iPhone Photo Phun), where we link up photos taken from our smart phones. Any smart phone.

*SNORT* I love autocorrect!! Once I texted my husband about something and typed Oops. Or so I thought. It came out Poops.

Poops.

JDaniel4s Mom January 18, 2012 at 7:04 am

Autocorrect can come up with such interesting word selections.

Kmama January 18, 2012 at 7:06 am

The autocorrect always gets me. The worst was when my husband sent a text to a friend, asking what time we would get together, because we needed to “lick down a babysitter.” Of course he meant “lock”. It was so inappropriate and funny at the same time.

Liz January 18, 2012 at 7:13 am

HAHAHA! Um, just be sure not to show that to your sitter’s parents!

21st Century Mummy January 18, 2012 at 7:12 am

That’s funny. The same thing happened to me recently, I sent a text to my friend Amy. I realised, just as I pressed send, instead of Hi Amy, it said Hi Cow. I was completely mortified and rang her to apologise. She was laughing down the other end of the phone. It wasn’t the first time thankfully.

Liz January 18, 2012 at 8:13 am

Oh goodness! At least she was laughing!!

Kristin January 18, 2012 at 7:15 am

Honks! Sometime auto correct is great, well it`s nearly always great.

Amanda Austin January 18, 2012 at 7:19 am

Gah I love to hate autocorrect. I hate it but sometimes the things it comes up with are priceless

Galit Breen January 18, 2012 at 7:35 am

Hee! Too funny, Honks! :)

Liz January 18, 2012 at 8:18 am

It makes for a great hash, doesn’t it? #Honks, Galit!

JamieAnne January 18, 2012 at 7:40 am

Auto correct is so funny!!!!

I’ve had a few post able auto correct blunders.

My favorite isn’t my own though. It’s caramel tote= camel toe that one was priceless.

Liz January 18, 2012 at 8:19 am

A girl must have texted that. Cuz we all know no man knows what color “caramel” is nor that a tote is a type of handbag. :-)

Evonne January 18, 2012 at 8:12 am

Auto-correct cracks me up! When it happens to other people.

Life As Wife January 18, 2012 at 8:31 am

I could sit on that autocorrect site for hours! It’s so funny!

Kir January 18, 2012 at 9:06 am

LOL!!! Honks…that’s awesome, I’d be Saying that for weeks. (and of course annoying everyone around me with it…hee hee)

I love that!

BalancingMama (Julie) January 18, 2012 at 9:14 am

Good one. A favorite I saw on FB once:

“My grandma is really sick. I hope she gets better.”
“I hope she dies.”
“What?!? You hope she dies?”
“Does! Does! I hope she does.”

Katie E January 18, 2012 at 9:17 am

I’m one of the only people in the world without an iPhone, but I still love to laugh at all the autocorrects. This one definitely makes me laugh.

Cheryl January 18, 2012 at 9:34 am

HA! Autocorrect is a constant source of amusement for me and those I text.

Greta @gfunkified January 18, 2012 at 9:36 am

Ha ha! I crack up ALL. THE. TIME. at my husband’s texts. He has swype on his phone, but he also has big fingers, so sometimes I can’t even tell what he means. And then he’ll keep going and keep not making sense. It’s really hilarious!

Jen January 18, 2012 at 9:46 am

Auto correct gets me every single time.

Maureen | Tatter Scoops January 18, 2012 at 10:07 am

Hahahaha you just gotta love autocorrect!

julie gardner January 18, 2012 at 10:46 am

I know the examples of autocorrect fails are endless; but I have to share my most recent horrifying gaff.

A friend had shared something about herself that required a show of sympathy.

I typed in Awwwwwww….
And if changed my message to “asshole.”

I didn’t notice.
(Because I’m an asshole.)

julie gardner January 18, 2012 at 10:46 am

IT changed. Not IF.

asshole.

Kimberly January 18, 2012 at 11:45 am

Once upon a time, when I used to work and didn’t like to work so instead of working I would read blogs from my iPod, autocorrect was my enemy.
HONK

Grumpy Grateful Mom January 18, 2012 at 12:24 pm

That’s funny! Makes texting much more interesting. :)

Megan (Best of Fates) January 18, 2012 at 1:28 pm

This is a honks good post.

(I think we both know what that means.)

Elaine January 18, 2012 at 4:22 pm

Okay, “honks” is just a funny word! I love that auto-correct mistake – ha ha ha!!

Leighann January 18, 2012 at 7:16 pm

GAH! Auto correct!
Gets me in trouble.

angela January 18, 2012 at 7:36 pm

Autocorrect is hilarious :) You should start saying Honks to him, just for fun :)

Mrs. Jen B January 18, 2012 at 8:01 pm

I simply had no choice but to shut off the autocorrect. It was just way too insane. Like “throw my phone out the window” insane. But it’s worth the giggle it gives me at the expense of others… ;)

Rach (DonutsMama) January 18, 2012 at 8:17 pm

Ha! That’s funny. Auto-correct cracks me up.

Not a Perfect Mom January 18, 2012 at 8:46 pm

I just love autocorrect…
I honk this is one of my faves…

liz January 21, 2012 at 10:13 am

Honks for that comment. ;-)

barbara January 19, 2012 at 6:28 am

Too funny! I’ve been victim of the auto correct too, it drives me crazy!

Devan @ Accustomed Chaos January 19, 2012 at 10:16 am

haha! i love doing that to people too! autocorrect is like the WORST to my mom – so many typos :)

liz January 21, 2012 at 10:12 am

My parents don’t text, but I guarantee if they did, my mom would get soo flustered by an autocorrect misstep like this.

John January 19, 2012 at 11:19 am

That’s a truly wonderful autocorrect fail.

I remember, texting from the UK on my work-blackberry, saying something schmoopy like “this meeting is ok, but I’d rather be cuddling you,” and what came across was “cufflung” instead of “cuddling.”

So, that’s become our codeword when situations come that there is no cuddling in the Batzer house.

liz January 21, 2012 at 10:12 am

Cufflung? I don’t think I’ve ever heard that word.

Sherri January 19, 2012 at 1:12 pm

Of course, you know I have a dumb phone…but I did get an iPad and now these autocorrect things are killing me!

Honks…that’s classic.

MommaKiss January 19, 2012 at 1:39 pm

When I first got my iPhone, the things that it thought I wanted to say were outrageous. I say “shit” a lot. It changed it to shittake. Because who doesn’t want to write that every other second? And my kid’s name always turns to “OK” which still ticks me off.

Now that I honk about it, maybe I can make those words ‘smart’ words or something?

Can I link even tho I posted today? #lazyAndlame

liz January 21, 2012 at 10:01 am

I think you can add “smart” words. Though it wouldn’t be as fun. Or something.

Shell January 22, 2012 at 8:57 pm

Gotta love autocorrect.

This weekend, one of the coaches for a U14 girls soccer team that my husband works with sent out a text telling the girls to “be sure to bring both breasts” to practice with them. He did NOT catch this until after he sent it. They were supposed to bring both JERSEYS.

Stefanie January 23, 2012 at 2:20 pm

That is hilarious! Autocorrect gets me on a daily basis. My husband has some pretty funny texts from me saved to his phone!
