I was left scratching my head when I found this set-up underneath our kitchen counter.
I’m not sure if she thought she was decorating with the animals?
Or were they in some sort of “time out” punishment?
Either way, I’d love to play a round of “What was she thinking?”
Leave me a comment with your thoughts on what was going through Maddie’s mind when she concocted this scene. $5 Starbucks gift card to the most amusing thought.
This post is part of #iPPP (iPhone Photo Phun), where we link up photos taken from our smart phones. Any smart phone.

Surely you’ve heard of cliff dwellers!? Or maybe the hanging gardens? That girl is WAY ahead of the curve… with that creativity and intuitive insight into cultural architecture she’s going places!
How very “outdoorsy” of you!
Awesome. She’ll be brining the Avatar franchise to the young set in no time….
Can you believe I’ve never seen Avatar? I’ve actually not seen many movies. I’m lame in that way.
Oh, I thought maybe they took a swim in the toilet and were hanging out to dry. That would be reality in my house.
Ha! This reminds me…my brother used to drop his baby cat in the toilet when he was little!
Were the animals preparing to go bungee jumping?
How very adventurous of you, dear banshee!
I thought they were hanging out waiting for crumbs…..
Good idea, though we have 2 dogs who tackle that job.
Had to come back to say what my husband said when I showed him the photo (which he found very cool, by the way): “They’ll never find us here!”
You and your husband are so sweet! And he’s awesome that he goes along with all our bloggy stuff.
I’m guessing they were escaping the lava. That’s what the kids are always doing when they’re jumping from one piece of furniture to the next.
And now I’m remembering back to my childhood! I played that ALL the time with my next door neighbor.
Was she creating a ladder of sorts to latter climb up and conquer the counter with?
I think they are clearly at the animal playground playing on the jungle gym.
It really is the perfect animal sized climbing structure…
I think you’ve got the stuffed animal frat house going on! Keg stands all around.
(Abbey likes to tie things to our cabinets. She tells me they’re “Ornaments. Since we took down our stockings it’s the only way Santa will be able to find us.”)
I really, really like your keg stand concept. This comment definitely made me go “hmmm”.
An invisible stuffed monkey told this group of stuffed animals that he was the best kind of animal because he knew how to have the most fun. The monkey said he climbs trees and swings from branches all day and that it’s so much fun. So these animals gave it a try.
oh she was definitely playing cliffhanger (ya know that stallone movie?) this is her way of saying she saw it
They are definitely hanging out to dry! Maybe they just wanted to admire the new kitchen counters.
Hey, at least they weren’t real animals.
Yes, cuz that would be seriously freaky!
HA! I’m guessing (in my lackluster creativeness here) that she’s trying to help them fly. The deer then could be a reindeer!
I really dig your reindeer angle.
I’m hoping that these animals weren’t working for tips on that pole.
It looks like they are climbing towards the counter for a snack or they all hid in the same place during a game of hide and seek.
Playing “let’s be bats?”
Another intriguing thought! Thanks, Anne!
Oh, this is totally a circus. Trapeze act, anyone? She’s saving you so much money and you won’t have to see clowns, so it’s a win win.
Are you scared of clowns??
She was totally just letting them have some fun. They must be kids. They want to hang all over everything too
[...] Linking up with Liz for iPhone Photo Phun! [...]
That’s awesome! Maybe she was testing how long she could get mommy to ponder the meaning of this. Maybe thinking of the meaning is the meaning of this. #ThingsThatMakeYouGoHum
Whoa. You’re all deep and stuff, Eve.
They are clearly stuffed circus folk. She must be the Ring Master.
She is definitely the #BOSS!
“Just a few more steps guys and we’re on the counter. Then to the computer … and we can take over the world through social media!”
The toys are out to get us.
Obviously there was an attempt to scale the counter to reach cookies, or some treat, and it went very badly.
Seems pretty resourceful… quietly playing, nobody got hurt, used imagination & creativity. Gotta love kids! Did she say anything about it? So funny. (I don’t need the gift card, I just liked her creation.)
that is cute, maybe she was just thinking they are “NOCTURNAL” and they needed a nap.
Training for their upcoming bungee jumping trip?
Chinese torture device, hands-down.
Oh the tangled webs you weave…
keg stands..duh
Simple. Each of those stuffed animals prefer a different kind of food (e.g. the dolphin likes fish . . . and everyone knows that stuffed dogs adore brussels sprouts). Maddie can, simply, feed any unwanted dinner to her team of friends. You, being proud & surprised of the clean plate, will have no choice but to give her extra dessert.
Hmmm, I totally want to test your stuffed dog-brussel sprouts theory now.
She’s definitely in tune with her inner “Chinese acrobat show” side.
Maddie was thinking, “This will get a ton of action on Pinterest!”
(Recipes and crafts are so last-week.)
My dad has his Bic in one hand and shaving cream in the other, animals like daddies are supposed to have fur. It’s too late for him, but we can hide here.
Props to you for working in the Craig angle. Wait until you read tomorrow’s post.
“Head to high ground guys … Mom’s mopping today!”
Ooooh, Morgan! You are so sweet to think I wash my floors! HAHAHA!
Looks like their hanging out to me. Kids put things in the most interesting places.
“Hmmmm… I bet mummy can’t make a blog post out of THIS!” *insert evil chuckle*
I think they’re rappelling. Hanging out for a fun afternoon, having a little adventure.
They’re just hanging out. Nothing weird there.
Looks to me like they’re all in the middle of doing gymnastics! A few are doing tricks on the rings, and the uneven bars, and some hand(paw?)stands too
I really like your paw stands! So considerate of the animals’ needs!
I’m so bad at caption insertion. I have tried for 10 minutes to come up with something funny. I gots nuttin’.
I don’t normally see girls do this stuff though. I’ve seen a million boys tie their Spiderman figures in string and hang em from up on high. She’s funny. Creative, that girl.
I’m not competing but I just have to say that they are definitely on an adventure and I think it’s a tree house : )
I didn’t get to read through all the comments, but clearly she’s prepping for a career as a taxidermist.
You and Kristin from What She Said were the 2 who went the “death” route. Just thought I should point that out. Ha!
I say she was just playing. That’s all. Just playing.
I don’t know what she was thinking but this creeps me out as much as it does when Klaw lines his bathtub frog toys up facing the wall.
There’s a flood and all the mommies are holding the babies out of danger.
I actually used to do something similar, but I actually would bring all my stuffed animals to the space underneath the sink and I’d talk and play with my dolls for hours. And then one day my mom discovered I was doing this and I was so embarrassed, I never did it again.
Wow. I can’t believe I just shared that here. LOL!! ANYWAAAAAY… yea, like… I think that’s her new story telling place
THAT makes me laugh out loud.
LOVe finding their play scenes frozen mid action like that.
