It’s that time of year again. The flowers are blooming, t-shirts have replaced sweaters in the dresser, and high school seniors all across the country are preparing for prom and graduation.
You know what that means…
I WAS A SENIOR HOTTIE IS BACK!
And this time, it’s even better!
For those who are new to this big-banged, hairspray-filled blogosphere link-up, “I Was a Senior Hottie” is all about posting old photos of ourselves when we were high school seniors. Last year, the #SeniorHottie link-up included over 100 participants and spurred at least half a dozen other similar link-ups through the summer.
Basically, it was one rad party.
Since there were so many who took part last year, I needed to change it up for this spring. So “I Was a Senior Hottie” has become “I Was a Senior Hottie: Then & Now“.
For this year’s link-up, we’re going to post 1 or more photos of ourselves in high school along with 1 or more photos of ourselves now.
Wait – there’s more!
I’m also going to have a few contests, employ a few judges and offer a few fun gifts to the winners.
The esteemed panel of judges for I Was a Senior Hottie: Then & Now are none other than…
Details on dates and official contest categories are still to be determined, but think along the lines of “Hasn’t Changed Since High School“, “Should Have Been Prom Queen” and “Wow, Your Hair Looks Different!“.
Please share your ideas in the comments to help us assemble a list of contest category ideas. The funnier, the better!

So fun!! What about a category for “What Was I Thinking?”
Ooooh, that might be a really great one to include!! Because it’s so damn funny!
I love that idea!
This is going to be awesome.
Damn right! Woot!
Oh Lord…I had blue hair and 27 piercings in high school…and never wore a bra…
like I need to relive those days…ha!
But that’s what makes it that much more awesome!
Oh Holly I need to see those photos!
I don’t want to get too full of myself, but I figure I’m a shoo-in for that “Wow, Your Hair Looks Different!” category. Step off, bitches – it’s already in the bag.
Snort! You might be in a dead heat with Elaine. Did you see her bangs from back then? You could use a ruler to measure their height.
So fun! I wonder if I can find a picture that is anywhere near as priceless as the last. Hmmm, the comparison will be interesting!
But include last year’s and then one of the fabulous you, current day.
You glamour girl, you!
This sounds like fun!
It was a blast last year. Seriously. And I think adding the contests and judging this year will be even better.
I cannot wait! Most improved hair?
Hmmm…. I don’t know… my hair looked pretty damn good in my senior pic!
I love that Jackie is already trash talkin’!
Yay! Last year was so fun! I am definitely IN for this year! Already plotting my pictures!
Woohoo! Boom.
Has it been a year already? It’s like a reunion! Time to bust out my favorite brass studded leather chair again!
It IS like a reunion! Good call, Leigh Ann!
“Would I let my daughter leave the house like this?” perhaps? Or maybe “Battles my parents chose NOT to have?”
ha ha Can’t wait to see the pics people come up with!
ohhhhh YEAH BABY!!
I had a blast with this one last year, I’m SO in again!! time to start looking back through some old pics
I love this! This was so much fun last year – I can’t wait to see what people do this time!
Awesome! I missed out last time, but I might have to go for it this time!
Oooohhhh…I posted mine a week late last year (always last to the party) but I think I was the only one who had pictures of myself and my mom wearing the same homecoming dress…
So I guess that means this year, I’ll have to find the shot of my dad wearing the same prom dress.
(And I’m not kidding even a little bit.)
You are in a category all your own, Julie C.
What I wouldn’t buy you for a photo of your dad in the same prom dress…
Love love love
I have pretty much looked the same since I was 5 years old, for the record.
Best goth/emo/etc
Dude, then you’ll be in the running for that category of awards.
WOOHOO! Love it! Can’t wait to join the party again.
YAYAYAYAYAY! Glad to hear it!
I still can’t believe it’s been a year! I’m so excited to put my Judgy McJudgerson hat on!
You will be quite discerning, and I’m sure will be hit up a lot to sway your vote.
I’m astounded that’s it’s been a year. I have Senior Hottie to thank for introducing me to some of my most awesome friends, both IRL and in the blogosphere!
My 15-year reunion is coming up and I’m actually looking forward to it. But maybe not as much as I’m looking forward to this link up!
It is pretty crazy that Senior Hottie was a year ago. I’m really excited that you not only are going to join us again, but that you met so many people through it, too!
My pictures wouldn’t be funny… I look the exact same.
Excited to see what everyone comes up with!
But that may be what helps you win one of the contests! You should join us!
I don’t remember this from last year but sounds fun! All I can think of is…pinched rolled jeans and crimped hair!
Yes! I can already imagine your Senior hotness with the crimped hair!
Hahahahaha! This is awesome! I think I might have to play along!
You might have to? You DO have to. This will be epic.
This makes me wish that I had more photos of myself in high school. They all lost at my mom’s house.
That’s really sad Jen. I’m sorry.
How ’bout “Most Improved”?? HA HA HA!
Love it!
Elaine, I think you are a front-runner for at least a couple awards. Those BANGS are still ingrained in my brain!
I loved this last year! Granted, my participation was lacking but it was so much fun looking at others’ photos. Hooray! And will we have Senior Skip Day?
If it makes you or the Chalupa happy, then a Senior Skip Day there shall be!
Sounds like fun! I’m totally in!
Yahoo! So glad to hear it, Jackie!
Ohmygoodness FUN!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea. Okay, I didn’t participate last year (no scanner and where in the hell are those extras hidden at my parent’s house??) but I really would like to participate this year. Also because Hutch, one of my very favorites, is one of the judges. How awesome is THAT?
Last year’s party was such fun! This looks like it will be a blast.
This was so much fun last time. Can’t wait.
How fun! Gotta start planning now …
I hope old ladies are welcome in this. I was a senior in 1977. No big hair here, but I had some awesome gauchos.
