Twive & Receive and Why You Should Look your City Up

In my post back in April about going local and offline with your social media efforts, I talked about a really fantastic initiative in Memphis started by WordPress and social media chick, Beth Sanders. The purpose behind MemphisGives is for the Memphis tech, social media and online marketing communities to “give back” to the Memphis area by raising money for various Memphis charities.

MemphisGives-Fundraiser

MemphisGives is a quarterly fundraising event, so when a social media friend of mine suggested my name to head up the Memphis, TN efforts for a national day of online giving, I asked Beth what she thought about merging the two ideas.

The result?

I expect all my Memphis friends to join Beth and me at Bosco’s Squared on Thursday, June 14th from 6-8pm.

BOOM.

And for all of my non-Memphis peeps?

Check out the list of participating cities on Twive & Receive’s website to see if a city near you is taking part in this #ALLCAPSAWESOME 24 hour fundraising competition. There are more than 200 cities who have already committed to joining in, so there’s a good chance there’s an event going on near you!

THAT, my friends, is how EPIC of an effort Twive & Receive is.

To learn more about the Giving Across America effort taking place on June 14th, check out Twive & Receive.

And if it’s not something you are able to join in but you’d like a reminder to donate during those 24 hours, set up a reminder for yourself.

Is there a Twive & Receive event in your area? How have you used social media to help a cause?

Woot! I’m so happy to hear that!

I couldn’t believe as I watched the number of cities growing! I think there are a lot of opportunities for people to join in.
